I actually do not think that house elves are necessarily loyal and "refuse" to be free - they simply don't have a choice because they are shackled by powerfull magic making it impossible for them to resist. Think about Dobby: Was he loyal to Lucius Malfoy, his master? No, not at all. He did everything he could to foil Lucius's plans. That's not loyalty, that is as much of a rebellion as his magical shackles allowed. Likewise Kreacher was not at all loyal to Sirius Black either. It is also important to note that all house elves mentioned in the books that do serve their respective masters willingly are treated well. It is impossible to believe that the magical shackles holding House Elves in slavery are anything else but shackles imposed on them forcefully, most likely after a brutal conquest. In a manner of speaking it is not too dissimilar to the Orcs in the Lord of the Rings and their enslavement and twisting by Morgoth, the major difference being that orcs where twisted into soldiers while House Elves where twisted into servants. Edit: "an informal arrangement where the wizards offered protection" sorry but that makes no sense whatsoever. Even in their enslaved and diminished state house elves have substantial magical powers - the last thing they need is protection. Think about what happened as soon as Dobby was freed at the end of The Chamber of Secrets: He immediately blasts Lucius Malfoy off his feet and down a staircase, forcing him to retreat without further resistance. No, the signs are clear: The humans viewed the elves as rivals for power, attacked them and enslaved them.

There's no way Harry would not have a stag animagus. The entire story is about he is a reflection of his previous generation.

How? How would he have done all of this? During the final Duel Voldemort had already been defeated in every way but a duel. His followers had all either bean defeated (wandless) or killed. His Hocruxes where destroyed. Immensely powerful yes, but not unbeatable, especially when surrounded by nothing but the most powerful British wizards who would not have hesitated to instantly kill him. Even if he somehow defeated Harry without killing him, he would have been done for.

Dumbledore already knew this when he (Lord Voldemort) was in Hogwarts as a Slytherin student back in 1943, 50 years ago. That's why he wasn't surprised when Voldemort rose to power for the first time.

Then the wizarding world would've been completely destroyed and annailiated along with the castle of Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry, there wouldn't be no Hogwarts or Harry Potter series.

I think that he would have been a great Minister of Magic until it came to the prophecy with Harry. Just like his interactions with his family and with Harry in the fifth book, his ambitions would have taken over and destroyed his reputation.

I don't think Molly used any form of paralyzing magic. Don't forget that it is specifically mentioned in the book that she fought to kill Bellatrix. In my opinion Molly used a spell that we simply don't know about since none of the canonic spells fits entirely. Sectumsempra fits the description of the wand movement, but Bellatrix wasn't sliced open; this also excludes Diffindo. Bombarda, Expulso or Confringo cause explosions - none of that happened. Reducto does shatter objects, but Bellatrix wasn't shattered (well, she was in the movie so it might be the case that Molly used Reducto in the movie. However - it doesn't fit the description in the book). Firestorm, Fiendfyre or Incendio all create fire which didn't happen either. The unnamed curse used by Dolohov on Hermione might be an option, but we don't know enough about that spell to be sure (not even the name). Ancient magic as seen in Hogwarts Legacy would be an option, however this form of magic was created for the game, over a decade after the book. Long story short - I think it simply is a spell that we don't know, and unless Rowling makes a spell official we'll never know for certain.

I don’t get the need some have to paint Dumbledore as a dark character. Yes he went through a phase in adolescence where, influenced by a very dark character he dabbled with evil ideas. He behaved badly towards his family in his grief, and he may have accidentally killed his sister. But he pulled back from that path at an early stage and lived his life in the service of Wizardkind. He was clearly a good, or even a great man, as well as a great wizard.

My all time favorite Snape theory was before the 7th book came out, people were saying that Snape was actually playing both sides against the other and waiting for his opportunity to take out Dumbledore and Voldemort and seize power for himself. Of course, that turned out to be wrong

Half bloods would not be persecuted as we saw in the deathly hallows, they were excepted, but would be more like second class citizens. Muggleborns would be persecuted and eventually exterminated with laws passed making wizards and muggle marriage and engagement illegal. I also do not think Voldemort would want anything to do with muggles seeing them as completely inferior not even wanting to bother with them and just isolate the wizard in world even more than it this. It will be enough of a task trying to rule over the whole wizard in world as it is with all the rebel forces he would have to face.

Well we know that from the books Voldemort states he was abolishing the other houses when he burned griffindors hat after he thought Harry Potter was dead; we then see the fight rage on even after everyone thought he was dead. MCGonagal and Rufus both engaged Voldemort in a fierce battle; he would have had to defeat and kill them for sure along with the Weasleys after Molly kills Bellatrix. The fact is most of the hero’s would have been killed in this last stand if Harry hadn’t waken up to take on Voldemort him self. Personally I would have enjoyed a what if Harry Potter actually studied and tried to be stronger; I think he could match or beat Voldemort’s power with the correct training and the power he accidentally gave Harry with that scar….. As for conquering the world, well Voldemort never even managed that with Britain so it was never brought up; but no villian is ever truly satisfied…..

Dumbledore feels too much like a Mugglophile and Pureblood hater through the books. It’s odd when you consider what happened to his sister by muggles.

I don’t remember Snape being Voldemort’s most trusted DE during the first war. Bellatrix clearly was one because he entrusted her one of his horcruxes, taught her, and (most likely) told her about the prophecy and horcruxes. I assume that because she specifically went after the Longbottoms after his defeat and was absolutely calm at her trial & confident of Voldemort’s return.

Are Goblins treated unfairly? Yes. Would they pose a threat to wizards/humans in general if they where allowed to use wands? Maybe. Goblins have very similar traits to humans, including greed and a hunger for power. This means that even if the majority of Goblins are peacefull and just want to live their lives and do their jobs there's always the possibility of a goblin version of Voldemort. But is this a reason to oppress the race as a whole? I don't think so. The same is true for all the nonhuman species - the enslavement of house elves is especially brutal (I always wondered why they are always called house elves specifically - this does hint at the existance of other elves as well who might be entirely different. Or at least that they did exist at some point). There's only one possible exception of a race where precaution might actually be the better way: Giants. Given their incredible strength and comparatively low intelligence it might be a bad idea to enhance their magic abilities (if they actually do possess those in the first place - nothing in the lore hints at giants actively using magic).

Dumbledore desires power. I think to save Harry potters opinion on dumbledore he simply said socks. I think dumbledore has deep desires of power. The deathly hallows is the example of that.

i wonder if they might have some ancient debt that is beeing paied of. we know that familys can waste all their wealth on stupid things, just look at toms uncle and grandfathers family where generations wasted all the money they owned and if something simular happend or a bad financial deal forcing some ancestor of the wheeslys into some realy bad debt with realy bad conditions i could defenitly see something like this happend. we also know that not all that is related to them is poor like aunt murial. atleast i would asume a goblin made tiara is quite a valuable item. The real reason is Voldemort was only just local… a local threat.

I think petunia had known about the platform and didnt say anything on purpose. In the books we know that dursleys went out of their way to take harry to kings cross and vernon even brought a cart for harry's luggage. Then they teased him, asked where was he going now and left. I think petunia told vernon about the platform and they did the whole scene on purpose, maybe because they wanted a revange for dudley's pig tail. This adds another layer to the fact how awful were dursleys towards harry.

I think it is sad that we never got more on Snape's backstory and details. He was wicked smart at potions, and a powerful / smart enough wizard to create his own spells, even as a student. Lore typically says that creating spells is very difficult and dangerous, even for older and more experienced witches and wizards. So the fact that as a student he invented seven, two of which were counter curses to his own new spells, is insane.

A note. Dumbledore says 'Dark Magician' not 'Wizard' or Magic User. Considering Dumbledore's connections to Grindelwald, he might well not consider Grindelwald a 'Dark Magician'.

Said subjugation provides a rather obvious answer to the question of the video's title: The Ministry of Magic 'rules' over the entire Magical World in the same way that the European Powers ruled over their colonies (who used to be sovereign nations) during the 'Colonial Era.' We'll see if my first take on this is correct.

Why Hogwarts has houses is simple: Britain is a monarchy in 2024, as it was in 1991, the british society is still in many ways splitt into working class, upper class and nobility, Slitherin is kind of the house of the nobility, ravenclaw stands for the educated elite and grifindor probably lower gentry/middle class whilst hufflepuff is free for all.

Always thought of it as the Elder Wand simply betraying Voldemort by letting Harry's Expelliarmus take effect. As it was known for betraying its wielders, a spell causing it to leave its master's side should have reinforced the curse on the item that is displayed in the hands of an unworthy wielder. I think of it as a sort of rock, paper, scissors situation. Harry triggered the Elder Wand's treachery, and the Elder Wand's A ada Kedavra going rogue backfired on Voldemort. Harry is the Rock, the Elder Wand is the scissor, Voldemort is paper. The rock bashed the scissors into stabbing the paper.

I’m surprised there is no mention of Harry’s scar. It seems obvious that would be a key element to this. I’ve heard the theory before that Voldy had the Griffindor sword at Harry’s house and planned to make his final horcrux using Harry’s death. Which seems to me that murder of a pure soul (baby) is part of it. And possibly drinking the blood of that baby hence the scar. If there was to be cannibalism it would have likely been the baby, not the other murder victims. Which is why the Potter parents were untouched. Otherwise the scar could’ve possibly been carved by Voldy’s soul shard as an entry point into Harry. But because the fame of Avada Kedavra is that it kills leaving no marks, I find it hard to believe that it was the curse that marked Harry. Furthermore, the Potters being dead would’ve given Voldy some time to do a pretty lengthy ritual before anyone showed up so he could’ve done a several step ritual in that time and theoretically would’ve been several steps into it by the time he needed to kill the baby (Harry) for the ritual.
